A two-partner project to create a new skin for the City College theater building, Aaron Davis Hall. We took the site into consideration by responding to the local cultural centers and their history. We focused on the main three viewpoints of the existing building and brought out these views architecturally, in the form of the universal theater symbol of a marquee. The three marquees, responding to the viewpoints of the theater, allow the building to be noticeable as a theater in the places on the street where it can be viewed. The two LED marquees convey the showtimes to the public, and the third marquee highlights the circulation within the building. This project was chosen for the NAAB accreditation, and Cityworks.
